1. I acknowledge that St Michael’s is a Fee-Paying School in terms of the applicable legislation. Thus, the payment of school fees is compulsory and furthermore, I accept an obligation to contribute financially towards the education the learner will receive, the liability of which may be enforced by due process of the law in the event of non-payment.
2. This Application Form, Financial Contract, and Liability Agreement are valid from the date of signing until the date my child(ren) leave St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein, unless a specific Application Form, Financial Contract, and Liability Agreement apply to the relevant school year, in which case that document will be applicable for that school year.
3. In terms of Section 40(1) of the South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996, both parents are responsible for the payment of tuition fees.

acknowledge that I am responsible for the payment of tuition fees jointly and separately, meaning one parent’s payment does not exempt the other. My marital status with my spouse or a maintenance order does not relieve me of my responsibility under this agreement. I understand that I have an obligation to pay my child(ren)’s tuition fees regardless of my personal circumstances, and the school is not a party to those matters.

5. All Day Care fees are payable monthly before or on the 7th day of each month, over a period of 11 (ELEVEN) months per school year, from January to November. To qualify for the 7% discount, the full tuition fee for the school year must be paid before/on March 31 annually.

6. The preschool (Grades 000 – R), Day Care, provided by St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein are not compulsory services, and therefore, I must pay the fees before/on the 7th of each month.

6.1 If your Day Care fees remain outstanding on the 7th day of the month, you will receive 14 days’ written notice to bring the fees up to date to avoid expulsion.

6.2 If your preschool fees remain outstanding on the 7th day of the month, you will receive 14 days’ written notice to bring the fees up to date to avoid expulsion.

7. The payment of all fees is a contractual obligation.

8. If you, as a parent, agree that your child(ren) will attend a tour, clinic, or outing, you remain responsible for the payment of these fees.

9. Should my account with St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein be overdue for a period of more than 90 (NINETY) days, St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein may start with the process for legal action to recover the outstanding amount, and fees for the entire year may be claimed.

10. In terms of Section 41(1) of the South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996, St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein may enforce the payment of tuition fees through legal procedures.

11. In the event that legal action is taken against me, I consent to costs being charged on an Attorney-Client scale.

12. I hereby choose my domicile citandi et executandi (official address for legal notices) for the delivery or service of all correspondence and legal documentation, including but not limited to summonses, applications, notifications, pleadings, and legal processes, as my residential and/or work address provided in the Financial Contract and Liability Agreement. I acknowledge that St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein’s official address for legal correspondence is:

13. I hereby agree that a certificate issued by the treasurer of the governing body, indicating the total outstanding tuition fees, will serve as sufficient proof in any claim against me or in an application for summary judgment.

14. I hereby agree that if my account for tuition, Day Care, preschool, or other fees is handed over, and I make a payment to St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein on the handed-over account, such payment will be allocated to future tuition fees, and I will still be liable to pay the full outstanding tuition fees, legal costs, and interest to St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein’s attorney. Should my child(ren) no longer attend St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein, the school will instruct the attorney to credit their account with the payment received, but I will still be responsible for the interest and legal fees payable to the attorney.

15. St Michael’s is a fee-paying school. Parents who wish to apply for full or partial exemption from tuition fees must personally collect the application form from the Bursar. St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein requests that parents complete the application correctly and in full, along with all required attachments. Parents are also requested to return the exemption application personally to the Debtors Clerk, handle it confidentially, and not involve their child(ren).

16. No changes or postponements regarding the payment of tuition, Day Care, preschool, and other fees will be valid unless documented in writing and signed by both parents and the Debtors Clerk.

17. I undertake to provide one (1) calendar month’s written notice to St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein before withdrawing my child(ren) from the school. If I fail to do so, I will be liable for a full month’s tuition fees as notice and the transfer certificate from the school will not be given of the learner.

18. I acknowledge that if I withdraw my child(ren) from St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein, the full outstanding amount owed to the school will become due and payable within 7 (SEVEN) days from the date my child(ren) leave the school.

19. I undertake to inform the school of any changes in my personal information while my child(ren) attend St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein, including but not limited to my residential address, work address, postal address, contact numbers, email address, or any other important information in the application form.

20. I undertake to provide proof of payment to St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein after making an electronic transfer or bank deposit.

21. I undertake to download the D6 communication system and the Karri App to receive necessary communication from St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein.

22. I accept liability for any damage caused by my child to St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein or any third party’s property. I undertake to indemnify St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein or such third party within 7 SEVEN) days for said damages from the date of receipt of the quotation that will be provided to me. Furthermore, I understand that St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein or a third party cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to my child(ren) or my own property.
